Born for Mrs. Hari Priya Devi and Mr. Poorna Chandra Rao, brought up at Vijayawada on the banks of the serene Krishna River. On having completed his Higher Secondary Education and graduated in Nautical Science from DG Shipping, he entered the field of Merchant Navy with his pre-sea training at NIPM. Joined as a Deck Cadet at the age of 16 with South India Shipping Corporation way back in 1991. Subsequently, sailed in various Indian and Foreign companies in allied ranks and within a span of 8 years, cleared his Masters License from Director General of Shipping, Government of India. Having tested the entire global waters at the age of 25, he held the fort by Commanding Ships and sailed as a Captain for various vessels like Bulk Carriers, General Cargo and Container Ships. He has an illustrious Career working for different shore-based Companies such as P&O Ports as Operations Superintendent, Good Earth Maritime Shipping Company as Commercial Manager and BENLINE Agencies as Assistant General Manager.

Capt Pushpakumar being a Mariner / Logistician is dynamic, versatile and with his exuberant and Innovative approach, as a Visionary, with a holistic idea to be an effective source of manpower for Logistics and Shipping for the nations in particular and to serve the business community at large, founded the Indian Institute of Logistics, thus becomes the Youngest Founder – Director of IIL and a successful Educationalist. IIL is pioneering by imparting education for Logistics and Shipping Industry and are the pioneers in the education of Logistics & Shipping in India.

Capt Pushpakumar is a Member of Board of studies in various Universities in India. He is a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, United Kingdom.
